PLEASE NOTE: We are not a retail outlet open to the public. We operate as an online butchery only. Orders are placed through our website or by telephone, then we deliver. Orders can also be collected by arrangement.
HISTORY
At Heydenrychs we're passionate about quality, we always have been.
It all started back in the Karoo heartland, in Jansenville during 1905. During the depression years Freddie Heydenrych was asked by his father Johan Frederik Heydenrych to assist him in his butcher and grocer business. Freddie lovingly obliged in order to help the family make ends meet. Trade was slow and a taxi business was started between Jansenville and the closest railway station at Klipplaat. An enduring labour of love and undeniable work ethic meant that Freddie worked literally day and night. The taxi business made overnight weekly meat deliveries to Port Elizabeth possible by train, servicing dozens of customers.
Postal deliveries grew countrywide but the most heartening part of the business was the passing trade in Jansenville itself. There were forever numerous cars from Port Elizabeth and as far as Northern Traansvaal, all parked outside to buy the renowned droëwors, biltong and boerewors. The passing trade convinced Freddie's son, Gordon Heydenrych, to join the family business and set up a butchery in Port Elizabeth. The acclaimed butchery grew into a processing facility and eventually moved to its bigger factory premises in Markman Industria.
Today Heydenrychs boasts top quality products, superior customer service, efficient distribution and a significant customer profile.
Freddy Heydenrych built a strong foundation upon which to build. The same product quality and work ethic founded back in 1905 has been deeply instilled at Heydenrychs today. Traditional recipes have been maintained with new and improved products introduced along the way.
From fresh meat, droëwors, biltong and boerewors to cooked hams, sausages and processed pork, you're guaranteed of only the finest ingredients in each and every Heydenrychs product.
